KAFART NEWS !
Dear community,
It’s a new month as we stated in the last newsletter, KAFART weekly is back from its hiatus! It’s August already and as days go by swiftly, we want to keep you up to date with the details regarding our wonderful event, latest developments, our growth and activities. There is so much in store for you. Cheers to having a lovely month.
In our innate desire to offer a great experience at KAFART 2023, we have moved the event date from the 17th -19th of November to the 10th -12th of November 2023.
In our eagerness to present a fresh view on the arts and fashion scene and our artistic heritage in Northern Nigeria and West Africa as a whole, we are proud to announce that we would have a plethora of artistes joining us from a number of West African countries.
Last year, we had the honor of featuring works by Fatouma Aiya Akine from Niger, Almogera Abdulbagea from Khartoum Sudan, Nybe Ponzio from Mali, Romeo Moukagny from Senegal and Milcos. KAFART is also a platform where Northern Nigerian Artists can showcase their work to a larger audience. Aside the guests from participating countries, we had Abdulrazaq Ahmed, with his stunning body of work, Almajiri goes home, Ahmed Abdullahi’s documentation of life, culture and traditional architecture of the wonderful people of Northern Nigeria and many others who are changing the narrative of how Northern Nigeria is portrayed to the entire world. KAFART 2022 was a blast and we hope to bring even more as fashion and art goes beyond borders to unite us all. To see all the artworks and stunning designs, visit our Instagram page. In the same vein, artworks for sale are on the catalogue on our website.
At KAFART 2023, we are glad to announce that the closing event would be a community performance night involving different performances by traditional singers, contemporary artistes, spoken word artistes, dancers like we had the Mud dance company delight us with their performance last year, instrumentalists and we are making it family-oriented event as it would be a fun time to unwind and have a relaxing evening with your loved ones.
Stay tuned for our trip down memory lane as we discuss our favourite memories at KAFART, features with artists and the history of arts and crafts in West Africa.
